FORMER Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, has described the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as “very disappointing.”
Jega told Daily Trust that the current administration had performed below the expectations of so many Nigerians, adding, however, that the President still had time to correct things.
The former INEC boss, who was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan, was Chairman from 2010 to 2015.
According to him, many people who wish the President well are worried about the “direction the country is taking.”
“Unfortunately, he has disappointed so many people. He still has time to correct things if he has the capacity to do that. But frankly, his government has been very disappointing. Many people wish him well but are worried about the direction the country is taking,” he said.
Jega, a onetime Vice-Chancellor of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK), noted that the Buhari administration had been very inept in managing peaceful coexistence in the country, Daily Trust reported.
“Governance has been very poor at the federal level and many of the states; that is why we are seeing challenges everywhere; whether it is insurgency,” he added.
