FORMER Nigeria’s Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation.
According to a breaking news on Arise TV, Okonjo-Iweala defeated her only challenger, South Korea’s Trade Minister, Yoo Myung-hee.
She polled 104 votes from 164 member countries, it was learnt, to become the first female DG of the Organisation.
The WTO is expected to announce the former Minister as its new DG later Tuesday afternoon.
