The Osun State governorship election has been fixed for July 16, 2022.
The Independent National Electoral Commission gave the disclosure in Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday in a statement dated June 10, 2021, obtained by The POINT.
The statement signed by the Secretary of INEC, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, indicated that campaigns for the governorship election would commence from April 17, 2022.
It read, “The tenure of the Governor of Osun State will expire on the 26th day of November, 2022, pursuant to Section of 178 (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Sections 25(7) and (8) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).
“The earliest date of election into the office of governor, Osun State, shall be the 28th day of June, 2022 and the latest date for the election shall be 27th day of October, 2022.”
