THE Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, has ordered the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Police Force to seal off the National Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Findings by The Point revealed that the order became necessary following the crisis in the party, which had seen the emergence of two chairmen in the last one week.
The IGP, it was learnt, acted to ensure order and safety around the secretariat, as opposing camps in the APC insisted on different leadership claims.
The staff at the secretariat were preparing to vacate the premises as of the time of filing this report.
The Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Victor Giadom, had announced himself as the Acting National Chairman of the party, following last Tuesday’s Appeal Court ruling upholding the suspension of the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
But the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu, had issued a statement, earlier, announcing the Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as Acting National Chairman, a position upheld the next day by the party’s NWC.
