THE Gombe State House of Assembly has impeached the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim.
Ibrahim was immediately replaced with Abubakar Mohammed.
Sixteen lawmakers out of 24, it was learnt, passed a vote of no confidence on the impeached Speaker.
Speaking to journalists on the development, the Chief Whip of the House, Musa Buba, said legislators removed the Speaker, backed by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
He however said the state House of Assembly members were not acting on anyone’s prompt, noting that their collective action was in the best interest of Gombe State.
