SUSPECTED Boko Haram fighters have allegedly shot down a Nigerian helicopter in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
Five people were said to have died in the unfortunate incident, according to a top source in the Nigerian military.
The helicopter, according to the source, belongs to the Federal Government.
The incident, The Point learnt, occurred on Tuesday morning, while the helicopter was reportedly flying over the area during a surveillance mission.
No official statement had been made by the Nigerian Army as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts to speak with officials of the Army on record were not also successful.
