A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Bode George, has faulted former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, for declaring support for the re-election of the incumbent governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress.

Geroge, who appeared on a live television programme on Monday, said that there is something wrong somewhere if Fayose truly declared support for Oyebanji.

He said that the PDP will start investigating the ex-governor from his ward to know if he will be sanctioned for anti-party activities.

“If it is true that Governor Fayose openly rejected the party and stated that he is going to work for the APC governor, he has defined his direction. From his ward, they will make arrangement for that investigation within confines of Ekiti State before they will report.

“Ayo knows that you cannot say you are a member of this party and a former two-term governor of a party to now say you are working openly for the governor of the opposition party, something is wrong,” George said.

Fayose had while speaking on Sunday praised Governor Oyebanji, saying it will take a miracle for the PDP to defeat him in 2026 when the governorship election will be conducted in Ekiti State.

He said, “As at today I am a member of the PDP, the governor there is a member of the APC, but the meeting point is that I am a leader in Ekiti.

“Like I told you, it’s either we lie we die, or we say the truth we die. Governor Oyebanji has done exceedingly well.

“I don’t know the miracle that will defeat him except something changes between now and that election.

“Forget the party, let us be realistic – the PDP is in bad crisis in Ekiti too, anybody can come here and deny I don’t care”

George said the PDP can still resolve the crisis rocking the party.

He said it is normal for a party to go through trying times but what is happening in the PDP now is not the best approach.

He said he is disappointed that the PDP members are allowing personal interests to disturb the peace within the party, adding that the party interest must always come before personal interest for there to be a lasting peace in the PDP.

He appealed to the warring party members to stop washing their dirty linens in the public and give peace a chance in the party.
