The All Progressives Congress has enjoined Nigerians to embrace the priceless values and virtues embodied in Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Specifically, it called on Nigerians to embrace hope, patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
In a statement released on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the Easter celebration represents God’s everlasting victory over death and the triumph of light over darkness.
The statement read, “Easter, the joyful end of the Lenten season of fasting and penitence, is core to the Christian faith as it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It symbolises God’s eternal triumph over death and the power of light over darkness.
“As we celebrate, we enjoin Nigerians to embrace hope, patience, sacrifice, and resilience, some of the priceless values and virtues immanent in Jesus’ death and resurrection.
“We join Christians in prayer that the transformative blessings of Easter abide with all Nigerians, strengthen President Bola Tinubu in his determination to tackle and overcome outstanding socio-economic challenges confronting our nation.
“May the worthy example of Christ inspire us to extend love and kindness to the needy and less-privileged as we remain steadfast in prayer for peace, security, unity and sustained progress of our beloved nation.”
Also, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Christians on this year’s Easter celebration and reiterated the commitment of his administration to development.
The governor, in his Easter message on Sunday, called on Nigerians to look forward to a brighter future in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
“As we celebrate this joyous occasion, let us carry forward the lessons of Easter, promoting unity and goodwill in our country, state, neighborhoods, and beyond.
“On our part, we will continue our developmental trajectory, which has put our state on a firm pedestal of development. We will continue to strive to provide the best for our people to raise their standards of living,” he said.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has also rejoiced with Nigerians, particularly Christian faithful in the state as they celebrate this year’s Easter, which marks the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in an Easter message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, urged Lagos residents, particularly Christians, to emulate virtues of humility, perseverance and compassion of Jesus Christ, which made Him die on the cross for the atonement of our sins and reconciling us with God.
He also implored Christians to continue to live in peace, love and harmony with believers in other faiths, noting that good neighbourliness, selflessness, patience, and love were among the several lessons taught and exemplified by our Lord Jesus Christ.
He said, “Today, I wish all Lagosians and Christians across the country and other parts of the world a Happy Easter as we remember the sacrifice and love of Jesus towards mankind.
“As we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I want Lagosians and Nigerians in general to make togetherness and unity of the country the central goal of our nationality.
“Let us all emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by simply impacting the lives of friends, colleagues, associates, neighbours and family members, as well as contributing to the growth and development of our dear Lagos State and Nigeria.”
Similarly the Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomom Adeola, has called on all Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria for a prosperous and secure future.
Adeola, in his Easter message, appealed to all to Christians and others to imbible Christian virtues of sacrifice, patience, love and abiding faith for a better tomorrow as exemplified in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and support Government’s efforts in the challenge of building a better society devoid of rampant insecurity and economic deprivations.
Meanwhile, a former Governor of Ogun and the Senator representing Ogun East senatorial district, Gbenga Daniel, said the season should remind the faithful of abundant love which is represented in the sacrifice of Christ.
“This blessed season of Easter offers us another beautiful opportunity to reflect on the enduring message of love, sacrifice, and renewal. It is a time that reminds us all of the triumph of hope over despair, of light over darkness, and of unity over division.
“As we celebrate, I urge us all as citizens to draw closer in unity and compassion just as Christ taught us by supporting one another and reaching out to those in need so that we can build a stronger nation, a prosperous Ogun State and a happier Ogun East Senatorial District together,” he said.
