The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Vice Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna state, James Bijimi, by suspected bandits.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the Command, Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incidence.
According to him, Bijimi was abducted along the Kaduna-Kachia Road on Friday with some travellers.
One person was said to have been injured in the process.
The incident came days after some armed bandits reportedly killed a driver and abducted 33 others in Kachia.
The PPRO disclosed that three vehicles belonging to the abductees were recovered from the scene.
Meanwhile, a local government official said that the bandits had contacted Bijimi’s family, demanding for a N100 million ransom.
