Agang of armed robbers, on new year’s eve, attacked a female motorist, Mrs Felicia Chinemerem, at Oke-Ira, along Ajah – Lamgbasa road, Lagos, chopping off her ear and cheek with a cutlass.
The gang, numbering about five, was said to have attacked the woman when her Toyota Camry car developed a fault along the road.
The hoodlums were said to have stormed the area where Chinemerem’s car developed a fault around 12 am when she was returning from the church on December 31.
Chinemerem was said to have locked herself inside the vehicle when she saw the hoodlums but when one of them pointed a gun at her, she quickly opened the door, pleading with
them.
She said after snatching the N12, 400 cash on her, the hoodlums also collected her two phones before one of them used a cutlass to cut her ear.
“As I was driving home from the church at Ajah, when I got to Oke-Ira area, the vehicle started developing a fault. I was trying to start the ignition but it did not respond. It was when I wanted to alight from the car that I saw about five men approaching. I quickly entered the vehicle back and locked myself inside. I had the premonition that they could be armed robbers. Unfortunately, they were. One of them pointed a gun at me and they ordered me to open the door or they would shoot. There was nobody around. I knew the devil had planned his handwork. But I began to call the name of Jesus Christ to assist me and free me from this temptation. I opened the door and handed over the N12, 400 with me. I also gave them my two phones and begged them not to harm me. But one of them with cutlass chopped off my ear and cheek with the cutlass,” she said as she narrated her
ordeal.
John Chinemerem, the husband of the woman, who is currently receiving medical attention at the general hospital in Lagos, said, “I thank God it’s not more than this. God will fight for her. I was ill and couldn’t attend the service but she insisted that the children should remain at home while she went to church. Her reason was because of health. Now she is in hospital, I’m now the one looking after her.”
