Scottish Premiership giants Rangers at the weekend confirmed that Leon Balogun has signed a contract extension with the club.
Balogun has committed his future to the Light Blues by putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, through the 2024-2025 season.
The experienced Super Eagles defender rejoined Rangers last July after Leon King sustained an injury.
Things were not rosy for Balogun in the first three months of the 2023-2024 campaign as he found playing opportunities hard to come by and was left out of Rangers’ Europa League squad.
In his first spell as a Rangers player, Balogun was a key member of the squad that won the 2020-2021 Scottish Premiership and also played a key role the following season as they lifted the Scottish Cup.
In his first words after putting pen to paper, Balogun said: “I am very, very happy and privileged to be able to extend my contract at a club like Rangers.
“I have said in the past I wish I could’ve been here sooner in my career because it fuels the fire to succeed all the time.
“I want to win more trophies here and win more titles. As a player, you want to make sure you are part of the history of this club because there are not many places in the world where there is a greater honour or a greater privilege.”
Overall, Balogun has appeared in 84 matches for Rangers and has scored two goals while providing three assists.
His other clubs include Türkiyemspor Berlin, Hannover, Werder Bremen, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Darmstadt 98, Mainz 05, Brighton & Hove, Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers.
