Super Eagles’ defender, Leon Balogun, may be on duty the day Mainz 05 will parade their army of warriors against Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga tie next Sunday.

Balogun, whose club are in 12th position with 29 points, will play with everything to push his club out of the relegation zone. Mainz start the day one point behind the visitors, and only three off the relegation play-off place, so they would be hoping to break into the top half of the table, by getting a sixth home win in 13 matches.

Stefan Bell has scored four goals for the 05ers this season, but the defender may likely be on the bench, following the red card he bagged in the 2-1 derby defeat to Darmstadt.

He was the sixth Mainz player to be given marching orders this season. Nabil Bentaleb struck twice in Schalke’s 3-0 win over Mainz in October, while Guido Burgstaller got a double in the victory by the same scoreline over Augsburg recently.

The Royal Blues would likely need both players to shine if they are to pick up only their second away win of the season.
