The morale of the national under-20 team, the Flying Eagles, currently intensifying preparations for the return leg of the African Youth Championship qualifier against Sudan, will be boosted by the presence of the teeming and vociferous Lagos fans, coach Emmanuel Amuneke has said.
The team, on Wednesday, commenced serious training at the Teslim Balogun stadium, in Surulere, under the watch- ful eyes of the Lagos fans, who thronged the stadium to see the players.
Addressing the players after a training session, Amuneke charged the team to remain focused and be dedicated to the task ahead of them, saying that they have every opportunity to make good impression of themselves tomorrow.
The former Super Eagles forward expressed the hope to see a large number of fans at the stadium to cheer his boys to victory even as he continues to build a new confidence in the team.
“Lagos has always been our home. We know that Lagos fans love good football and the boys are ready to play their hearts out against Sudan,”he said.
He however warned the team not to be complacent but to play the game according to instructions.
The present under-20 team is made of some of the play- ers who won the last Under-17 World Cup for Nigeria in Chile.
The team overpowered Su- dan 2-1 in front of their fans in Omdurman during the first leg of the duel.
