The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Chief Ayo Awe, has said that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has embarked on “a journey of jeopardy” with his recent visit to the state.

Awe said that Atiku had only come to Ekiti State to disgrace himself.

The APC stalwart said, contrary to views that Atiku was in the state to intimidate the party, the ex-president actually missed his way.

He added that the former vice-president had disgraced himself with his visit to Ekiti, where people had been denied the dividends of democracy by the incumbent Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

“He came to disgrace himself. I am not saying he can’t come; he is a Nigerian and he is free to go wherever he wants to go since he has a mission here. But I believe sincerely that Atiku missed it all. He is on a journey of jeopardy. His case is like that of a tortoise on a journey that it does not know when it will come back,” he said.

Commenting on Atiku’s assessment of the level of infrastructural development in Ekiti State under Governor Fayose, the APC chairman said,  “Well, if somebody is commending Fayose on infrastructural development in the state, such a person is deceiving him. May be that person has seen a bridge without water underneath. That is a joke taken too far in a place like Ekiti.

“Is he going to talk about abandoned market structure, or the bridge that has no value to Ekiti people? Atiku just wanted to say something and he has said it.”

Awe also boasted that the APC was fully prepared and determined to upstage the ruling PDP from the Ekiti Government House in 2019.

“The party is preparing very well; we are set. According to the party directive, which has been released to us, by April, we will have our primary and we will choose a candidate for the party. As at today, no matter the number of the aspirants, we are talking to them on developing the party. And as soon as it gets to the time to choose a candidate, the party will peacefully and creditably do it well,” he said.
