The fight against cancer in Nigeria is set to receive a boost, as Me Cure Healthcare Limited, has affirmed its commitment to tackling  the killer disease.
The management of the foremost diagnostic facility, made the pledge in Lagos recently, as the company  marked 10 years of existence in the country.
The health facility which began operation in 2009,  has continued to successfully provide world-class advanced diagnostic and specialty treatment to Nigerians through a team of local and international medical professionals.

Speaking in an interview with The Point, Chief Operating Officer,  Me Cure Eye Centre,  Dr Adegboyega Alabi, said it had been an interesting journey in the last one decade for Me Cure as the company had been able to revolutionise the healthcare industry since it came on board particularly in the diagnostic care.

Alabi who is a Consultant Opthalmologist, stated that Me Cure had impacted positively to the growth of the health sector, revealing that the company would  be focusing its attention on cancer management by providing oncological services that would help save the lives of those living with the disease in the coming years.
According to him, Me Cure’s  vision
for diagnosis, Opthalmology, oncology and pharmaceutical was a complete package from day one, stressing  that the vision of the company in these four key areas of healthcare provision had come to fruition.
He noted that Me Cure had made great impact in the lives of many Nigerians within a short period of its operation.
“Before Me Cure came on board, it was challenging for patients to get their investigation done in a complete manner that could aid their treatment.
“It was difficult for healthcare providers to have all diagnostic tools in one setting.
People have lost their lives avoidably over lack of diagnostic tools.
“So patients were having challenges in their diagnosis to the point that some have to travel out of the country for diagnostic purpose. The investigation aspect of diagnosis was a problem. But Me Cure has bridged the gaps and has saved lots of lives”, he said.
Continuing, Alabi said: “We have patients from far and near coming to use our facility. We have been able to stimulate the healthcare industry. Through Me Cure’s achievements, a lot of people have seen that investing in healthcare is very viable. Me Cure has class and quality to provide for the teeming population of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.”
He told our correspondent that their operations in the last 10 years, had shown that it was practicable to have quality healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
“Nigerians desire and deserve quality healthcare services. Our operations have proved that they are willing and ready to pay”, he said.
Going forward, he stated: “We want to actualise the four visions of Me Cure: pharmaceutical, diagnosis, oncology and Opthalmology particularly the oncology project considering the importance of cancer care.
Cancer is one of the killer diseases in this part of the world.”
Lamenting some of the challenges associated with  the  provision and maintenance of the state-of-the-art equipment in the country, Alabi urged the Federal Government to provide a tariff free policy for the importation of equipment and their parts for health institutions in the interest of patients.
Also speaking, Chief Operating Officer,  Me Cure Oshodi Centre,
Col. Jide Fadirepo (rtd), affirmed that clients were given value for their money in terms of services because “we have the facilities”
Fadirepo who is a Medical Radiographer, said: “Here, we have facilities and programs that enable people know their health status to avoid sudden death.”

In her remarks, Head of Operations, Sucheta Trivedi, added: “We have thorough professionals who not only offer care to patients but also put smiles on their faces, thereby reducing the pains and anxiety associated with their health issues.”

The health facility has in the last two years been boosting its services with ICT with the latest being Me Cure Smart Buy.
