One of the militant groups in the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Peoples Professional Volunteer Force, has warned that it will attack the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation should the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission carry out the alleged plan to arrest a former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan.
The NDPPVF vowed to bomb the NNPC if the anti-graft agency did not shelve its ongoing plan to apprehend Mrs. Jonathan. The militant group accused the EFCC of witch-hunting the former first lady and urged the anti-graft agency to immediately defreeze the former first lady’s bank accounts containing over $15million.
NDPPVF spokesman, Parkinson George- Amabo, warned the EFCC in a statement on Thursday that, going ahead with the investigation of Mrs. Jonathan could bring about,“bad blood, embarrassment and possible unrest in the Niger Delta.”
The group, however, said that, although it was averse to corruption, it was against the manner in which the EFCC was investigating the former first lady.
