Five suspected armed robbers have allegedly raped two women after dispossessing them and other residents of their cash and handsets in the Imota area of Lagos State.
The suspected armed robbers were said to have broken into the victims’ residence at about 1am and held them hostage.
According to one of the victims, who identified himself as Bayo Agboola, the robbers were armed with a gun.
Agboola said, “One of the robbers was ordering everybody to surrender their money and handsets or they would shoot everybody dead. Two of them raped my neighbours’ daughters. One of the victims is called Kubura. The other one is called Fatima. Kubura was pleading with the robbers to take all the money, handsets and jewelry, but spare her pride and life. The robbers, after collecting the items, still raped her. They also raped Fatima, who tried in vain to resist them. Her parents were not at home when the devils came. They collected N12, 000 and three handsets from me, my wife
and son.
“You see, this our area is very bad at night. Who will come out at about 1am to defend you? Our residence is almost isolated. Immediately I have enough money to rent another house, I will quickly relocate. It is dangerous to live here. I want to now live in a town; not a village. There is hunger in the land. Many people are dying of hunger.”
