A 20-year-old man, Korede Ogundeko, has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his master’s N169, 000.00, which he squandered on playing a lottery game.
The Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Afolabi Olalekan, who brought the accused person, Ogundeko, to court, said he committed the act at No. 57, Old Ojo Road, Maza- maza, Lagos State.
Ogundeko pleaded guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him in the presence of the complainant and his former master, Mr. Abiodun Alabi.
The prosecutor, Inspector Bassey Sunday, told the court that the accused “did steal the sum of one hundred and sixty nine thousand and one hundred naira (N169, 000.00) property of one Abiodun Alabi ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to an punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The prosecutor also said the accused person did conduct himself “in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by playing Bet Naija game worth N169, 000.00 without the consent of your master, one Abiodun Alabi ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,
2015.”
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N100, 000.00 with two sureties.
The magistrate adjourned the matter till November11, 2018.
