Addressing journalists at the Willie Obiano Campaign Organization office in Awka at the weekend
, preparatory to the formal flagging-off of the re-election campaign of Obiano on Monday
2nd October,2017,Umeh demanded that the security agencies-the Army, Police, DSS, among others, should ensure a level playing ground for the parties taking part in the contest and that they should not allow politicians to use them to intimidate the electorate, adding that if INEC is ready to be impartial, then the election will be highly successful.
Umeh who spoke and flanked on both sides by other key officials of the Willie Obiano Campaign Organization, urged President Buhari to ensure that not only would democracy be preserved, but his ( Buhari’s)
party, the APC should not be used to bully the electorates and manipulate the election.
He maintained that the votes of the electorates must be allowed to count in determining the winner of the November 18th election.
Shedding the light on how they are preparing for the November election, Umeh contended: “We have prepared ourselves to engage in this election with clear evidence of the achievements recorded by Governor Obiano in the almost four years of his stay in office, we will mobilize the electorates to make an informed and credible choices in making APGA to win this election.”
Umeh debunked the insinuation making rounds that Obiano has not performed citing the numerous projects and achievements of Obiano, like payment of salaries regularly and building of infrastructures in various communities, among others to back up his position that Obiano has performed very well
since he became governor.
He contended that the successes so far recorded by Anambra State ovet the years were embedded in the character of APGA, the character that is not found in other competing political parties, adding that in APGA they don’t believe in Godfatherism.
Umeh scored Obiano very high with the contention that the governor has been doing his best in the mist of recession and completed many road projects he claimed were hastily awarded by Obi on the eve of his departure from office.
