Cambridge United recruit, David Amoo, has said he will play himself into the English
Premier League by scoring enough goals to market his potentials in the lower league.
Amoo believes he can work well in tandem with Piero Mingoia on Cambridge United’s right wing next season.
Amoo, who was United’s first summer signing, is expected to provide extra competition with his pace.
“The good thing about the English league is that there are about 50 games a season. So, let’s say we have two wingers, we’re all working for the same thing. We’re all trying to help the team be the best it can. I think the main thing is having a good squad. You need to have different players throughout the club. I’m desperate to get fit and hit 100-goal target,” he said.
Amoo said he was looking forward to being involved in the English game once more after two years in the Scottish Premiership.
But he is aware he has to be in the best shape possible to be ready for the challenge.
He said, “I wanted to play in England again. I enjoyed the hustle and bustle of it and I’m looking forward to getting back into it.
“It’s important to come in in good shape, but pre-season is about being here to get fit. I was conscious of the fact I needed to rest (over the summer) because in League One and
League Two, it’s a very long season and there are no breaks during the season.”
Cambridge United also has another Nigerian-British born, Uche Ikpeazu in its team for the new season.
