Ambode’s move to name new monarch for Ikeja commendable’

The Ikeja Youth Development Association has expressed gratitude to Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State, over his reported decision to install a new monarch in Ikeja soon.

The National President of the association, Alhaji Adeshina Balogun, in a statement, said Ikeja youths were gladdened by the outcome of a meeting between the Gbobaniyi Royal Association (the community’s mainstream royal association) and the Ikeja Council Chairman, Alhaji Mojeed Balogun, during which the council boss reportedly informed the Gbobaniyi that Governor Ambode was set to appoint a new monarch for Ikeja.

Balogun, the council boss, had, at the meeting, urged the royal circles to close ranks and work in unity, to herald in the new Olu of Ikeja.

Expressing delight, Balogun, the youth association’s leader, stated, “It is now about four years that our Oba joined his ancestors, and as you all know, without a traditional ruler, a committee is incomplete. That’s why we are grateful in advance, to Governor Ambode.”
