All Lagos markets to be shut tomorrow, Friday, in honour of Jakande – Iyaloja-General

ALL markets in Lagos State will be shut on Friday, February 19, 2021 in honour of the late First Civilian Governor of the state, Alhaji Lateef Jakande.

Jakande died on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of 91 and has since been buried.

The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, disclosed the decision to close all markets as a mark of respect for the late respected politician on Thursday.

She urged all market leaders to comply with the directive, stressing that it was a way of mourning the departed leader.

“We are shutting down all markets tomorrow as a way of mourning our late father. We all know he was the former Governor of Lagos who dedicated his time to develop the state and dedicating a day in his honour is a good thing.

“I enjoin all market leaders and traders to comply with this directive,” she said.

The remains of the former minister were laid to rest in Lagos last Friday, amid touching tributes by President Muhammadu Buhari and leaders across the public and private sectors in Nigeria. and private sectors in Nigeria.
