An enraged woman, Oyenike Oladele, has dragged Olowolagba, her husband, before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, Osun State for allegedly assaulting her.
Oyenike was said to have lodged a complaint that her husband beat her at the Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo.
The 45-year-old father of three was consequently arrested and arraigned before Chief Magistrate A. A. Adebayo on one-count charge of assault.
The charge against him read that, “Olowolagba Oladele, on January 7, 2022 at about 10:30am at Aregbe Area, Osogbo in Osogbo Magisterial District, did assault one Oladele Oyenike by slapping her on the face.”
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, told the court that the defendant committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The man, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The defence counsel, Najite Okobe, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms as the constitution presumed him innocent until proven contrary in court.
Adebayo granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in the same amount.
The magistrate ruled that the surety, with verifiable address, should be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned till March 16 for mention.
