The Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency has called on stakeholders, philanthropists, political leaders, church leaders, and business moguls to include free health insurance enrollment in their Yuletide packages to less privileged in the state.

Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Divine Igwe made this call during a press briefing in Abakaliki.

He described one of the agency’s programmes tagged, “Adopt Your Community Initiative” as measure to ensure rapid actualisation of universal health coverage in the state and boost its economy via good health for all.

According to Igwe, the directive aligns with the agency’s mandate to enforce compliance with the formal sector social health insurance scheme and promote Universal Health Coverage in the state.

“I would like to bring to your attention the “Adopt your community Initiatives ” launched by the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency. As the Executive Secretary, I urge all political leaders, church leaders, businessmen and philanthropists to consider including health insurance in their Christmas packages for the less privileged. Health is wealth and prevention is always better than cure.

‘To support this initiative, 100 persons can be enrolled into the Ebonyi Health Insurance Scheme by paying ₦1,500,000 at the cost of ₦15,000 each annually and be rewarded with the title of Health Insurance Ambassador.

“As part of our new mandate, EBSHIA will conduct surgeries every four months throughout 2025. However, participants must be registered at least three months before the scheduled surgery date to benefit from this initiative.

“All companies, schools, and businesses with five or more staff members are required to register their employees under the Ebonyi Health Insurance Scheme. In line with the approved formal sector social health insurance in Ebonyi State, this is also a step towards actualisation of Universal Health Coverage.

Meanwhile, Igwe disclosed that payments for enrollment should be made to the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency account with Sterling Bank PLC, account number 0094477266 and notify him for further actions via 07033790997 after making payments.
