Ageless allure of Aso-oke

Aso-oke has a peculiar appeal that knows no age. Varieties like etu, alari, onja owu and sanyon were common in the past. Today, however, the special fabric has been modernised with tiny threads into varieties like silk, monogram, print, bling, double-weave and double-net, among many others.
For women, the head-to-toe traditional attire treatment was usually given to the material in the past. But these days, it is more often mixed with other elegant materials for a queenly look. Often times, good ladies’ suits are also designed with aso-oke.
For men, this unique traditional material can be combined with lace or other materials for special occasions. In this case, aso-oke is used as ‘agbada’ while the inner two-piece is made from lighter masculine materials.
