- Group to hold 100-day absence march on Wednesday
Anti-Buhari protesters, led by Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, were on Tuesday morning reportedly attacked at the popular Wuse market in Abuja.
According to Deji Adeyanju, one of the leaders of the group, they were attacked by some youths when they moved to the market in the course of their protest.
Recall that the protesters had started a campaign last week, demanding that the President Muhammadu Buhari, who is away in the UK on a medical vacation, resumes or resigns.
Adeyanju alleged that the attack was masterminded by a “regular face” among pro-Buhari protesters, a group involved in solidarity protest in support of President Buhari.
“We went to Wuse market to mobilise for the 100-day event tomorrow and a regular face at Unity Fountain brought thugs to attack us. Charly Boy’s car was damaged by the thugs. This is a senseless government. #ResumeOrResign,” Adeyanju wrote on Twitter.
Another leader of the ‘Resume or Resign’ movement, Adebayo Raphael, said in spite of the attack, the group would remain undeterred.
He said that a gathering was planned for Wednesday morning in Abuja to mark 100 days of absence of the president.
