THERE was pandemonium in Isheri-Idimu community, Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, on Sunday, following the explosion of one of the pipelines of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation at Idowu-Egba area.

It was learnt that the illegal activities of pipeline vandals in the area triggered the explosion at about 6.30pm.

Many residents and passers-by reportedly scampered for safety to avoid being caught in the resultant inferno as was the case with previous explosions where many lives were lost.

A building at Council Bus Stop, Idimu area of the state, was also said have been burnt at about the same time, which kept the fire fighters very busy on Sunday.

Spokesperson for the state fire service, Amodu Sakiru, confirmed the incident.

But no official report had been released as of the time of filing this report.
