ARMED bandits, on Monday, stormed a Primary School in Rama village, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and abducted a yet-to-be-ascertained number of pupils, including teachers.
The incident was said to have occurred in broad daylight, at about 8.45am, after the morning assembly.
The pupils, it was learnt, were leaving the assembly ground to their classes, when the bandits invaded the school.
Residents said the armed men stormed the school on about 20 motorcycles with which they whisked the victims away.
Kaduna State government confirmed the incident.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, Samuel Aruwan, said the Government was still collating the actual number of pupils and teachers that were kidnapped.
He said, “The Kaduna State Government is receiving security reports of kidnapping of some pupils and teachers in a primary school located in Rema, Birnin Gwari local government area.
“According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at an LEA Primary School in the LGA.
“The Kaduna State Government is currently obtaining details on the actual number of pupils and teachers reported to have been kidnapped and will issue a comprehensive statement as soon as possible.”
