The  management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo,  Ebonyi State, has expressed its readiness to make graduates of the University entrepreneurs upon graduation no matter their areas of discipline.

The  University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, broke the cheering news during the third pre-convocation press conference which held at the University ‘s Senate
chamber.

Nwajiuba, who was responding to questions, said the University, through its Centre for Entrepreneurship had being organising workshops and competitions in a bid to ensure that their students, upon graduation, become job givers and not seekers. He stressed that the school currently has a good number of students it wishes to support financially to go into self-reliant
ventures .

” The Centre for Entrepreneurship here is doing quite a lot. This year, there were competitions for students on entrepreneurship ideas and we selected some of them that the university plans to support,so that the students will have those things set up in their names,’’ he disclosed.

He debunked the allegation that there was mass dismissal of staff and their replacement by people from his state of origin, Imo
State .

‘’The statistics are there, what you are saying is not true.Whoever that is in doubt should check the records. There is something you can not stop. You can not stop people from talking without facts. What you have just said is not true, it’s not factual,’’ he said.

For the third convocation, he disclosed that out of the 355 graduates, 15  made 1st Class Honours, 188 made 2nd Class Upper, 145 made 2nd Class Lower while 7 got Third Class.

As the University has started Post Graduate Studies, he  stated that the 3rd convocation shall feature conferment of honorary awards on the Chancellor, Alake of Egba Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo (CFR), and a former Minister of Education, Prof. Ihechukwu
Madubuike.
