Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his administration’s support for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The governor also urged residents of the state to continue to support the military in securing the country.

He gave this charge at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day held at the Military cenotaph, Osogbo, on Wednesday.

Adeleke assured that his administration would assist the Armed Forces in performing their duties of protecting the territorial integrity of the country.

“We gather here today to commemorate the year 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, a solemn occasion to honour the bravery, sacrifices and loyalty of our men and women in uniform.

“As we mark this significant Day, we remember the supreme price paid by our fallen heroes who laid down their lives in defence of our great nation. Their memories will forever be etched in our hearts and their sacrifices will never be in vain nor be forgotten.

“As we celebrate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, let us remember our commitment to the values of patriotism, loyalty and sacrifice for which the Nigerian armed forces are known.

“Let us continue to support our armed forces and work towards a more peaceful and secure Nigeria.

“For us in Osun State, we will continue to support the armed forces to enable them perform their duties of protecting the territorial integrity of our nation and state,” he said.

In another development, Governor Adeleke has eulogised his late brother and first Executive Governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke on his 70th posthumous birthday remembrance.

The governor described the deceased senator as torchbearer for impactful leadership, noting that his posthumous birthday anniversary is a solemn reminder of the life of service that defined him.

Acknowledging senior Adeleke as a mentor and benefactor, the governor said the late politician has been a great guide in his life trajectory, influencing his passion for service and positively impacting lives.

According to him, the deceased, popularly called Serubawon during his lifetime, is more than a brother to him, but a legend who lived for the people and left a legacy of good governance.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke hailed late Adeleke for inspiring a generation of young people to pursue life aspirations and make meaning of their lives.
