Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday, launched the Osun State Content Creation Studio as a hub to equip creators with tools, resources and spaces they need to bring their ideas to life.

The governor believes that the studio will empower talented youths such as filmmakers, fashion designers, musicians and all other creatives to amplify their voices and create solutions to societal challenges.

Launching the studio at the Sustainable Development Goals Creative Conference in Iragbiji town of Osun State, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing the creative economy as a vital means of achieving the SDGs.

According to him, “One key step forward in this journey is the launch of the Osun State Content Creation Studio. This is a collaborative effort with members of the private sector. This studio will serve as a hub for creators. It will equip them with the tools, resources, and spaces they need to bring their ideas to life. It will empower filmmakers, digital storytellers, fashion designers, musicians, and all other creatives to tell their stories, amplify their voices, and create solutions for societal challenges.

He said the platform is to celebrate creativity, innovation, and the immense potential of our people, adding that “Osun State is blessed with a heritage that inspires the imagination.”

“We have the sacred Osun-Osogbo Grove, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We all know about our famous cultural celebrations like the Olojo Festival, Sango Ede Festival, and countless others. We are a state deeply rooted in tradition with creativity. Osun is a natural melting pot for creative talents, where ideas flow freely, and innovation thrives.

“Today, we are here to reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the creative economy and its vital role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Creativity and innovation are critical to building a sustainable future, and Osun State is ready to lead this charge,” the governor added.

Governor Adeleke called on talented youths in the state to seize the opportunity to transform Osun. “To the creators, thinkers, and visionaries in this room today, you are the torchbearers of this future. The stories you tell, the art you create, and the solutions you design will not only transform Osun but also inspire the world.

“Let us seize this moment to work together, foster collaboration, and build a thriving creative ecosystem that drives sustainable development and prosperity for all,” he added.

In his remarks, Bamikole Omisore, the Special Adviser on SDGs and Multilateral Relations to Governor Adeleke, said the best way the state can tap its abundant resources is to bring the content creators, the film producers, the musicians, the fashion designers and everybody in the same room “so we can start this conversation on how we can collaborate, work together to put Osun on the map as the global cultural custodian.”

Omisore noted that Osun and the federal government are working together with developmental partners to help youths in the state to develop themselves.

Speaking, Bala Yunusa, the Senior Technical Advisor at Presidency for OSSAP-SDGs, said the Nigerian government has demonstrated strong commitment in the overall implementation of the SDGs.

He said, “What is happening in Osun is a sub national conference trying to link the potential of the creative economy to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and within the framework of the SDGs. We must commend the state government of Osun for demonstrating commitment to the overall implementation of the SDGs.

“You will recall that this administration has created stand alone Ministry of creative economy, culture and tourism to drive the creative economy, policies and programmes are being implemented that will enable it. it is good to see that it is now happening right at the sub national level.

“There are huge potentials in the Nigerian youth, our population is useful, and we can only think through creative innovation to tap the huge potentials for the creative economic. It holds a huge potential generating employment, decent work and empowering youth to achieve their good potential.”
