… ‘Oyinlola only going on sabbatical’
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described as misleading and utterly mischievious, reports that the party has collapsed its political structure into the Peoples Democratic Party.
The National Publicity Secretary of ADC, Yemi Kolapo, said in a statement released on Friday that the party remained the most credible alternative to the two main structures “currently in crisis in the country” and will never be subsumed under any political party.
According to her, the reported ‘return’ of former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, to the PDP, should not be misconstrued as a collective move, as the ADC would only be loaning one of its frontline leaders and astute politicians to help mend a troubled PDP structure.
She said, “We cherish Prince Oyinlola. We know his worth politically. We therefore wish him well throughout his ‘sabbatical’ in the PDP.
“We, however, reiterate that our great party, ADC, remains the Number One party in Nigeria in terms of stability and vision. To strengthen this point, about 35 political parties deregistered recently by the Independent National Electoral Commission have  reached the final stages of collapsing their structures into our great party.
“To many of them, this is the only credible party devoid of crisis, with visionary leaders, and formidable structures across all the states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.
“Our core objective remains building a new Nigeria where everyone is a stakeholder, not the current scenario where the dividends of democracy are in the pockets of just a few. This is the reason the ADC DNA teaches inclusiveness through proud and regular payment of membership dues, laced with first rate transparency and accountability.”
The ADC assured all its members across Nigeria, including elected representatives at the local government, state and federal levels that the party would leave no stone unturned in its quest to rule Nigeria.
“Please discard any rumour of a merger. Those who are peddling such are only trying to exploit the widely acclaimed goodwill of ADC,” the party said.
