Twelve days after Hertha Berlin confirmed his signing on loan from CSKA Moscow, Super Eagles dazzler Chidera Ejuke made his unofficial debut as the German Bundesliga club ended their training camp in England with a 2-1 loss to West Brom at The Hawthorns.

The CSKA Moscow loanee missed the defeats to Derby County and Nottingham Forest on July 16 and July 20 respectively.

Manager Sandro Schwarz brought Ejuke on seventeen minutes into the second half, with the winger wearing the number 40 at the back of his jersey.

Another Nigeria international Semi Ajayi came off the bench in the 68th minute, replacing Baggies teammate Bartley.

Hertha forward Davie Selke opened the scoring in the 13th minute and West Brom came close to bagging an equaliser when John Swift hit the crossbar two minutes to the end of the first half.

Second half goals from Swift and Daryl Dike earned the Championship side a win in their final pre-season game.

Ejuke suspended his contract with CSKA Moscow, paving the way for him to join Hertha Berlin for the 2022-2023 campaign.

Having come through the game at the weekend unscathed, he is in contention to make his competitive debut for the Old Lady on Sunday, July 31 when they tackle Eintracht Braunschweig in the DFB Pokal.
