Sexagenarian arraigned for stealing company’s 250 bags of cement

A staff of a company, AKSA Nigeria Limited, Ademola Adeniji has been docked by the Police at an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 250 bags of cement belonging to the firm.

Adeniji, aged 64, was said to have been asked to purchase the cement valued N1,000,000,00 but he allegedly carted them away.

He was accused of commiting the offence alongside some accomplices who are now at large.

According to the charge, “That you Ademola Adeniji and others at large sometimes in year 2013 in Osogbo, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

“That you Ademola Adeniji and others at large on the same date, place, month and year, did obtain Two Hundred and Fifty bags of cement from one Ehinonowu Jumoke in the name of your company AKSA Nigeria Limited with intent of supplying the said company and pay, the amount of the cement is One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) only.

“That you Ademola Adeniji and others at large on the same date, place, month and year in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal Two Hundred and Fifty bags of cement valued One Million Naira, in the name of AKSA company, property of One Ehinnowo Jumoke.”

Police prosecutor, Inspector Lamidi Rasak informed the court that the sexagenarian committed offences contrary to section 383 (1) and punishable under sections 516, 419 and 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the three count-charge slammed against him.

Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara granted Adeniji bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in the same amount. One of the sureties must be a level 15 civil servant while the other must be a home owner within the court’s jurisdiction.

The matter was adjourned till July 26 for hearing.
