Indication has emerged that Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has withdrawn his 2023 presidential bid.
Emefiele’s alleged withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress’ presidential primary came weeks after his decision to run filtered in.
A source was quoted as saying that “CBN Governor has withdrawn from the presidential race and has communicated his intention to continue as CBN Governor.”
The source claimed that Emefiele met with the apex bank’s executives on Friday and told them that he would stay on as governor.
It was also gathered that during their meeting on Thursday evening, Emefiele had told President Muhammadu Buhari that he would continue his role as CBN Governor.
