The government of Ebonyi State has approved promotion of civil servants hitherto stopped since 2015.
The embattled Governor David Umahi also approved payment of pension to all pensioners with immediate effect.
The state government made the development known via a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, in Abakaliki.
The statement read that “The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Nweze Umahi, has approved the release of the promotion of Civil Servants for the year 2019, 2020 and 2021 to all deserving Civil Servants in the state.
“The governor has also approved the payment of pension to all pensioners in the state with effect from 22nd March, 2022.”
Since the inception of the government of Governor David Umahi in 2015, promotion had not been approved for civil servants and there was backlog of unpaid pension to pensioners.
