May 21 for governorship primaries
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, has released a schedule of activities with Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29 earmarked for the conduct of its presidential primary.
The schedule of activities which is a product of the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilization was signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Hon Umar Bature.
The party also picked Saturday, May 21, as the date for all gubernatorial primaries across the country.
The announcement followed the approval of the party’s Electoral Guidelines for the conduct of Primary Elections and Timetable and Schedule of Activities of the PDP for the 2023 general elections by the National Executive Committee, NEC, at its 95th meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.
The NEC at the meeting also approved the payment of a total of 40 million naira by all aspirants to the office of the President of the country on the platform of the party. The amount represents an Expression of Interest Form of N5 million and a Nomination Form of N35 million.
It also approved a total of N21 million for governorship aspirants, just as the NEC approved a 50 per cent rebate for youths who are of age 25-30 for all offices.
Also, the primaries for the Senate would hold on May 14, and that of the House of Representatives May 12, and the primaries for States’ House of Assemblies would take place on May 7.
