Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, said the proposed Bwari Tourism Village will create jobs and empower the people in the local government area and its environs.
Mbanefo said this when she paid the Chairman of Bwari Local Government, Hon Musa Dikko, a courtesy visit to further discuss the modalities for actualizing the proposed tourism village in the local government area.
The NTDC boss explained that tourism is a value chain that touches every sector, adding that it has great potentials to create employment and wealth, reduce criminality and encourage unity in any nation where it is embraced and developed.
To improve the nation’s economy, Mrs. Mbanefo said, “we have to continue to focus on our production capacity in Nigeria by investing in sectors of the economy that are labour intensive, like tourism, agriculture and manufacturing.”
The Bwari Local Government boss in his reaction commended the domestic tourism development and promotion initiative of the Sally Mbanefo led-administration, saying, “This will indeed create jobs, empower our people and also create wealth for them.”
Hon. Dikko described Bwari Local Government Area as the tourism hub of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), explaining that only the council in the FCT has played host to the United State president, vice president and host of others global personalities because of Ushafa Pottery Village, located in the area.
THE Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of International Tourist Choice Limited and facilitator of the Bwari International Tourist Village project, Mr Trust Henry Ogboi, who also lauded the NTDC boss for her practical promotion of domestic tourism, said the project, when completed will embolden Nigeria’s name on the world tourism map.
