Remo Stars returned to winning ways at the weekend following their 2-0 demolition of visiting Katsina United on Matchday 15 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Sky Blues had gone three games without a point losing to Lobi Stars also Monday last week.
However, the club rediscovered their form as goals from Tolulope Ojo and a spot kick from Andy Okpe gave them a resounding victory.
Head Coach of Remo Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote made seven changes to the side that lost to Lobi Stars in Makurdi on Monday evening.
Abdullahi Oyedele grabbed an opportunity to put the Sky Blue Stars in front, but he couldn’t convert.
The Sky Blue Stars went in front after Qudus Akanni’s cross went past everybody before Ewelike Edozie picked it up to send in a cross and his attempt hit the woodwork before he converted at the second opportunity.
At the commencement of the second half, Ewelike Edozie got the opportunity to double the lead for the host but his attempt hit the woodwork and went out of play.
The Sky Blue Stars continued to mount pressure on the visitors with different attempts but the woodwork saved majority of the chances for the Changi Boys.
Andy Okpe doubled the lead for the host in the 72nd minute after Ifegwu Ojukwu was hacked inside the visitor’s box, and he beautifully converted to increase the tally for the host.
The visitors continued to find a goal to reduce the deficit but Boubacar Talatou’s attempt flew over the bar to give the Sky Blue Stars the maximum points to return to third on the log.
Remo Stars next will be a trip to the Enyimba Township Stadium in Aba on Wednesday to take on the People’s Elephant.
