Some unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed three policemen in Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that the cops were gunned down Monday night in front of a police station along the Enugu-Abakaliki Highway.
The gunmen allegedly opened fire on the policemen who were said to have mounted a roadblock in front of the station.
A source said that the gunmen were in a hummer bus, which the policemen might have mistaken for a commercial vehicle.
“The remains of the three victims have been deposited at a mortuary in Abakaliki after they were confirmed dead by doctors,” the source said.
No fewer than 10 policemen were reported to have been gunned down in Enugu in two different attacks by gunmen who stormed checkpoints last week.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Command, Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident.
Odah, however, said that she could not give details of casualty figures immediately.
