Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Friday congratulate Mr. Godwin Obaseki for emerging the winner of Edo State gubernatorial election.
With 319, 483 votes, Obaseki of the All Progressive Party, APC, defeated his main opponent, Ize- Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the election, held in the state on Wednesday.
Amosun, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Adejuwon Soyinka, congratulated Obaseki, for his victory at the polls.
The Gateway State Governor who lauded the giant strides of the outgoing Governor of the State, Adams Oshiomhole, disclosed that the citizens of Edo State had chosen the right man, Obaseki, to be their new governor.
“Through their votes, people of Edo State have spoken eloquently in support of the APC and the many giant strides recorded by the outgoing administration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole,” Amosun said .
He noted that the outcome of the Wednesday’s election in the state showed that democracy in the country was still intact.
