While addressing journalists on the campus on Thursday, on activities lined up for the convocation ceremony and the grand finale of the 60th anniversary of the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, said a total of 109 graduates bagged First Class (Honours) in the first degree category.
The VC said that the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, would be conferred with the Honourary Doctor of Letters, while Michael Ade Ojo, founder of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State would be conferred with the Honorary Doctor of Business Administration at the convocation grand finale on Saturday, December 11.
He said, “The two (personalities) are highly qualified, distinguished Nigerians whose eminence in their respective endeavours cannot be questioned. OAU would never sell it honourary doctorate degrees no matter what is being entrenched in other universities.”
Ogunbodede announced that the convocation ceremony would hold between Wednesday, December 8 and Saturday, December 11, saying that all interested graduands would be allowed to be physically present while others could join virtually.
He said, “It is not by accident that we have enjoyed total peace in OAU. Transparency is an issue. I have been open.
“Also, the unions on campus are reasonable because they see that we are not hiding anything from them.”
