Armed men abduct ex-Imo deputy governor’s father

Some yet-to-be identified gunmen have reportedly abducted the father of the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, and traditional ruler of Ezi-Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Eze Henry Madumere.

The 89-year-old man was reportedly kidnapped in Iho community, Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state around 10am, on Friday.

An eyewitness said that the kidnappers shot sporadically into the air to scare those in the area away before taking their victim.

The incident was confirmed by the victim’s son. He, however, did not give the details of the bargain with the kidnappers.

The residents of Mbaitoli have since been thrown into confusion with many resulting into prayer and fasting for the release of the old man.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abattam, has yet to pick up his telephone.
