Former President Goodluck Jonathan, alongside other prominent Nigerians, will receive the Zik Leadership Merit Award on November 16.
Chineme Onyeke, Director-General of Igbo Nsukka United Front, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Nsukka.
According to the statement, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Rotomi Amaechi, Minster of Transport; Hajia Fatima Shinkafi, Executive Secretary of Solid Minerals Development Fund; and Josephine Anenih, former Minister of Women Affairs, among others, are listed for the award.
It stated that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would be the Chief Guest of Honour, while Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar, the Etsu Nupe, would chair the occasion.
The second annual INUF leadership award with the theme, ‘Preserving Zik’s legacies for national unity,’ was aimed at honouring late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, first Nigerian President.
It stated that INUF, a non political organisation with membership from the six local government areas of Enugu North Senatorial District, would continue to celebrate Zik on the account of his special love for Nsukka.
“Not only that late Zik lived part of his life at Onuiyi Nsukka in Nsukka LGA, but he sited the first indigenous and prestigious university, University of Nigeria, in Nsukka, to demonstrate the love and care he has for Nsukka people.
“UNN has put Nsukka on the world map, as well as made the town become a household name globally.
“Nsukka people will continue to celebrate and honour the late nationalist and first President of Nigeria, popularly known as Zik of Africa,” it read.
