As the dry season approaches, the Ogun State House of Assembly has sought for full implementation of the state’s Animal Grazing Regulation and Cattle Ranch Establishment Law, 2020.
Governor Dapo Abiodun assented to the bill barely a month ago to forestall recurrent attacks on farmers and farmlands in parts of the state.
The Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, stated the need for the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Olusola Subaru (retd.), and other relevant government agents to set machineries in motion towards the implementation of the law in conjunction with the security agencies in the state.
Oluomo spoke while responding to the submission by the representative of Yewa North I State Constituency, Adegoke Adeyanju, on the need for the government and other stakeholders to curb the incessant clashes between herders and farmers especially during the dry season.
He said that as the dry season approached, hands must be on deck to avert incessant clashes between the herders and the farmers.
According to him, effective implementation of the law would save farmers from the harrowing effects of open grazing system.
In another development, the Speaker lauded Governor Abiodun on his commitment towards fixing the failed portions of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, saying that as a responsive government, necessary steps must be taking to assuage the suffering of the people.
