The Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State is set to hold its 13th convocation on Thursday, November 4, where 450 undergraduate and postgraduate students would be awarded degrees.
Addressing journalists in the university on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Akinlo, said Wole Olanipekun, SAN, would be conferred with an honorary doctorate degree of Letters in recognition of his astute leadership qualities and immense contributions to the nation’s educational development.
He said that the graduating set, called the ‘Dunamis Class,’ had been raised as global leaders and change agents imbued with God-fearing attributes; adding that they were a distinct brand.
The VC stated that 381 graduating students would be awarded first degrees while 69 would bag postgraduate degrees.
Akinlo added that aside from offering scholarship to members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the university extended scholarship to foreign students.
According to him, students from Pakistan, Jordan, Philippines, Rwanda, Libya and Bangladesh were offered admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
“Another history was made by the university on Sunday, September 19, 2021 when it was pronounced as Nigeria’s best private university in research at the star-studded 15th edition of the prestigious Nigerian Media Nite-Out Award held at the Ikeja Airport Hotel, Lagos,” Akinlo said.
While reeling out other achievements of the school in the last one year, Akinlo said the National Universities Commission accredited programmes in the faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Human Anatomy, Nursing Science, and Physiotherapy, adding that English and Theatre Arts were accredited in the Faculty of Humanities, while Law and Psychology were accredited in the faculties of Law and Social Sciences respectively.
