Operatives of the Kano Neighbourhood Security Watch Group have arrested a housewife, Hauwa, for allegedly committing adultery.

Hauwa, a resident of Hotoro quarters, was said to have been arrested by security men late in the night while being cuddled by her male lover.

The commander, Kano Neighbourhood Watch Group, Hotoro Division, Sani Yusuf, disclosed that the suspect was arrested in company with a male, Abdullahi Umar, of Unguwar Dabai quarters.

“We were on patrol late in the night when we came across the married woman and another man. They were both in a dark corner at the end of a dark street. When we interrogated them, we discovered that she was a married woman who came to Kano from Maiduguri.

“We are still investigating the case. Once we complete our investigation, the matter will be referred to the appropriate quarters for disciplinary action against her and her male fornicator,” he said.

When quizzed by our reporter, the woman blamed the incidence on negligence, saying, “I met the man I was caught with when I went to the market with my mother. He asked for my number and I gave it to him. But, I also told him that I was married. He did not believe me.

“He came to look for me; we were together in a corner when we were arrested. I am begging for forgiveness. I should be allowed to face the wrath of my husband and my mother. I beg not to be prosecuted for what I have done; it was a mistake.”

However, the man denied the allegation leveled against him, saying that the woman did not disclose her marital status to him. He admitted that they were in a romantic mood when arrested.
