A Police Constabulary, Jelili Aladeokin, who was killed during an armed robbery attack on two banks in Iree, Osun State, on Thursday, has been buried, according to Islamic rites, on Friday.

His remains arrived the Iree Muslim cemetery at about 11am on Friday morning, where Islamic clerics performed the burial rite amidst grief and sorrow.

Speaking at their family house at Dam Area, Iree, the two wives of the deceased called for the arrest of the armed robbers, saying they should be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Some indigenes of Iree described the victim as a youth who dedicated his life to providing effective security in the town.

They said his death would leave a vacuum in the internal security of the town and he would be missed by many.

Speaking in his office in Osogbo, the State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, said the attacks were carried out simultaneously on the police station and the banks.

Olokode disclosed that the police were still combing the area and assured that the manhunt would continue until the assailants, who carted away undisclosed amount of money in the banks, were arrested.

He confirmed the death of the Policeman in the bank raid, adding that four people who were injured during the attacks were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

According to him, some vehicles used for the robbery operation, numbering four, were dumped by the armed robbers and are now in police custody.

The police commissioner, however, enjoined members of the public to always cooperate with the police by providing useful information that would help in taming criminal activities before they would be carried out.

He said the robbery attack could have been contained if the residents were vigilant enough and alerted the police once there were suspicious movements.
