Police arrest 2 robbery suspects, recover 2 pistols in Bayelsa

The Police in Bayelsa State have arrested one Abraham Kalizibe, 34, a native of Etegwe Community, Yenagoa, for alleged robbery.

Also arrested was a suspected armourer, Abadi Prosper, 18, in whose custody two locally-made pistols and five cartridges were recovered.

This is contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria by SP Asinmin Butswait, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command in Yenagoa, on Thursday.

The statement read that the arrests were made following a tip-off.

According to it, Kalizibe is a member of a notorious armed robbery gang terrorising Yenagoa and its environs.

It stated that upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to series of armed robbery operations following which he led police detectives to the alleged armed robbery gang’s armourer where the two locally made pistols and five cartridges were recovered.

The statement read that the suspects were currently undergoing interrogation and would soon be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
