… No Cause for alarm, says Akintola
BY BENEDICT NWACHUKWU, ABUJA
The National Secretary of the Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Senator John Akpanudodehe has declared that the Gov. Buni-led CECPC is still in charge despite fears arising from the judgment of the Supreme Court in the Ondo state governorship election case where the Party recorded a slim victory of four to three split decision.
He urged party members to remain calm as there was nothing to worry over the Supreme Court judgement.
Akpanudoedehe said this at an emergency media briefing at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, on Thursday.
He said, “We stand with our National Chairman, we will go ahead with the congresses as planned. “
Akpanudoedehe was flanked by Niyi Akintola, SAN, the lead counsel of the party in the Ondo State Governorship Election petition which was decided by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
In a related development, Akintola discarded insinuations that the Party was playing with fire if it ignored some interpretations of the judgment. He said there was nothing to be worried about as the Tribunal had said Governor Buni did not contravene any law by occupying the post of Party Chairman.
The learned Senior Advocate further said the party was not by any means at risk of any litigation by allowing the governor remain as the Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Commitee.
The nationwide Ward Congresses scheduled for Saturday will go on as planned.
